Left or Right

“There is a fork in road, Ss. Right or left” he asked. I stood confused for a minute trying to remember a fork in the directions to my place. As far as I could see, it was a straight road until the last right. My apartment was the last one on the left. He had turned into the service lane from the highway. Where had he found the fork. I walked down to where he had parked his vehicle. Trust him to be confused about a muddy lane and the tarred path… Elder brothers, forks and some weird sense of precision. Epitome!

Watching the rain at night…

It was nearly morning in India, and night in New York…  I got up, brushed to get back into bed when he called again… “Do you think we’ll ever do all of it, anytime?,” Zz asked. “Eh?” “You know, about watching the rain at night from the bed, sipping on beer or coffee.. I mean, where is the time for all this… ?”

She thought back to the countless times this had occurred. If only she had dwelled on it for a while and not brushed them aside.. they wouldn’t have had to wait this long.
